This role is responsible for carrying out product development and business development activities required relating to existing Kelvatek products and new offerings. This role will have a particular focus on helping develop offerings to support the transition of UK Distribution Network Operators to become System Operators (DSO Transition), initiating projects that access funding from Network Innovation funding from Ofgem. This will also include support for data sets from a variety of devices including other Low Voltage monitoring equipment and smart meters and involve the application of novel analytical solutions to extract value from this data.

The role will require the ability to assess the needs of utility companies through review of documentation made available by the industry, attendance at industry events and through discussions with customers and potential customers in these markets. The role will require working with the sales team in drafting responses and proposals for submission to potential customers.

The ability to engage with customers at Senior Management Level will be required and to work internally with sales, marketing and product development teams and externally with customers and partner organisations. This will require excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of documenting and communicating requirements in the context of initiation of the product development lifecycle.

This role will require a flexible approach to working with a wide variety of colleagues, partners and customers and the ability to cope with the challenges that this represents. Base location is Lisburn but home working is an option. The successful applicant must be prepared to routinely work away from home on a range of client sites. Employment is subject to right to live and work in the UK, satisfactory CRB check and medical check.

Responsibilities

• Assessment of market / industry information to maintain detailed subject matter expertise of utility market requirements

• Working with other members of the Product Management and Engineering teams to define and specify market requirements to feed into the product development lifecycle

• Working with the sales team on specific customer opportunities o Making customer sales presentations o Providing written responses/proposals to customer’s requirements

• Providing support for customer presentations on system functionality and capabilities including occasional product demonstrations

• Working closely with the Algorithm team (Lisburn) and AI centre in Parma, Italy to develop novel solutions for industry challenges

• Providing subject matter expertise in the area of DSO transition, smart meter data management and IT solutions supporting smarter and more flexible energy networks

• Problem analysis/need identification, solution scoping and definition

• Leading customer workshops and requirements sessions

• Scoping and seeking funding for product development and innovation projects

Required Criteria

Knowledge and at least 5 years working experience of the UK energy market is essential. This should include detailed knowledge of some of the following areas: Smart Metering, Energy Storage, LV monitoring and Smart Grids. Previous involvement with establishment and execution of Ofgem funded Innovation projects is also essential.

• At least 5 years of experience in the utility sector

• Experience of Ofgem Innovation Projects (NIC, NIA)

• Knowledge and experience of Utilities- both in terms of IT environment and also in the context of the regulatory environments in which they operate

• Knowledge of the following areas: DSO Transition, Smart Metering, Energy Flexibility Optimisation and Smart Grids
